What Does Integrity Really Mean?
-
Of all the qualities a leader must possess, integrity may be the most important one of them all. How does someone develop integrity as part of their character? Where does integrity come from? Integrity is not a trait that we are born with, rather it is “learned” as we go through life. Not all leaders come from backgrounds that would indicate their level of integrity, however, during the process of learning, integrity is developed. Just like with fingerprints, no two people have the exact value system that we live by.
The process of integrity begins when we are young, we usually learn from our parents, grandparents, neighbors, teachers, and other children who we have contact with. This can also be taught by reading or by watching certain television programming. The process by which we develop integrity is also dependent upon our reception senses as well. How many times have we heard of families who were the cornerstone of integrity and wholesome living in the community, only to have a child who turned out to be the complete opposite, otherwise known as “the black sheep? The reverse can be true as well, there have been some who come from families that have lacked integrity only to have a child who possesses a high level of integrity.
Integrity is engraved deep in your soul, and can be read by the people around you based on the way you live and act. Inegrity is related to yuor moral values and your deep spiritual belefs. Below are a few tips tha will helpl aid in the development of integrity.
1. Always live in truth. Never tell a lie, and refuse to participate in a lie
2. Treat Everyone the same. Be kind straightforward and honest in your endeavors with every person you meet.
3. Never sell or promote a product or service that you dont believe in or use yourself.
4.Use your intuition to do whats right regardless of the outcome. Dont let money or relaionships sway your decsions.
5. Never expect to get more than what you put in. There are no “get rich schemes” in life.
6. Accept responsibility for both the failures and successes in your life.
7. Strive for personal and professional excellence. The most valuable asset you will ever have is how you are known to others, thru your reputation for honesty and fair dealing. You must gaurd your good name and reputationabove all things, you must never compromise your integrity or peace of miind for anything or anyone.
Much Success and Happiness

This is one of my favorite topics, Evin! Integrity is essential to good leadership. Your followers will forgive pretty much any mistakes you make as long as you have integrity. Your post gives us all a chance for a check up to reflect on our own integrity. Thanks!
Evin,
This was right on man, I believe leaders must have integrity in order for them to have any influence. A person can tell if you genuinely care about them, and if you do they will follow you till the end.
Great Post
Evin, having integrity is something that I think we all should possess and if you don’t you should try to develop it as soon as possible. It is the cornerstone of your personal being and your success. Great topic.
Evin,
This is a very important trait for anyone to have in life…I too believe integrity is stored deep within our soul. There seems to be a correlation between those who follow their passions and who also have good integrity and those who want more than anything else in the world to help others also to follow their passions.
You share some great examples of how we can exercise integrity in our everyday life.
Thanks Evin,
Beth
Evin,
You are spot on with this one. Using integrity in everything you do is so important. Giving value to others by sharing openly and honestly builds character. You only have one chance to make a good first impression so make it count by following your intuition.
Thanks for sharing this reminder,
Val
How refreshing ! Simple but important values still being fostered in this day and age. Thank you, for the reminders.
