Success Must Be Created

Success means different things to different people. When many people think of success they picture an array of luxurious cars and fabulous mansions. Perhaps the idea of outlandish shopping escapades and weekend trips abroad comes to mind. Success could be getting excepted into a particular college, earning a position on your job, or making it onto a sports team. Everybody has a different view of success painted in front of them. Regardless of what it means to me individually, people have their own way of looking at and “perceiving” things. It’s simply a matter of perspective. There are no boundaries and borders when it comes to individual perceptions of success. Success in life does not come easily. Success is all about turning ideas into beliefs, about turning fear into faith and hope into realities. Success is an experience. The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted. Success is a process. Within this process there will be many obstacles and setbacks, simply put these are just a part of the game. If you think that you are not up to these challenges, then odds are that you are going to struggle with accomplishing your goals, and in turn not be as successful as you desire. On the subject of goals, I’m sure you probably heard of goal setting back when you were in junior high or high school. Did you know that this method is recognized as one of the most effective methods to achieve success in life? Instead of letting your goals linger around your mind,take the time to grab a pen and some paper and jot them down. Goal setting for Success includes: Courage: Step out of your comfort zone. Successful people think big and act big. It can be a scary thing to do, but if you don’t, then will you ever be successful? A Vision: In your mind, know exactly what you want or desire. Write it on paper, continue to hone your vision statement until it gives a clear idea of exactly what you want to have, do, or accomplish. Plan: Develop a plan to achieve your goal. A Timeline/Deadline: Develop a day by day schedule. Include the steps to achieve each day. Action Steps: Each day focus on only a few steps at a time—without worrying about the others. Motivation: Maintain your initiation, direction, intensity and persistence. Leadership: The challenge to be more than average, to go beyond the call of duty, for example a leader will be in the office earlier than everyone else and will usually be the last to leave the office. Avoid Procrastination: Procrastination is the most frequent self-sabotage. Be a Resource: People who are successful encourage progress by solving problems and answering questions. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, look around and try and think of ways you can contribute Ask for Help or advice as needed: Ask for advice. Ask for assistance. Ask for support and encouragement along the way from friends, family, colleagues, mentors. Trust me every little bit helps. Persistence: If something does not turn out just right, analyze it and develop a plan to move around it, adapt, and move on. Avoid letting one step back stop you from moving forward. Attitude: You are able to choose how and what you think. You are able to choose what you want to believe; how to be. You are at cause by the things you do. Your result, what you have, is the effect. Everything in between is the flow from being to having. Common Sense: The wisdom to learn from your mistakes , and the ability to simplify complex subjects by getting straight to the core of what really matters. Confidence: Affirm to yourself with energy “I can do it! I can do it!” Confront Your fear and move towards it. Use your fear as a challenge Success is my only option Failure is Not. Another great post, Evin! My definition of success – getting back up every time you fall down (or get knocked down!) – It’s only the people that give up who won’t eventually make it. Of course, there’s the process of refining your goals, so they truly express you and your ideals – rather than someone else’s version of success. Thanks for zoning in on the importance of our individual image of success.

What a wonderful post! There are so many tips here as well, and you are so true that success doesn’t just come from doing one of these things but combining them all.
I have started goal setting 3 things everynight and concentrating on them the next day. 3 things isn’t a lot and they are achieveable. Having just 3 things also allows me to focus and dig deeper into what I want to achieve.

Evin alot of people think that all they have to do is just say they are going to be successful and maybe put forth a little effort and then give up.
